The Communities of the Basin

The charming community of Chester is the main business hub for the Lake Almanor Basin. Nestled along the banks of the Feather River, Chester's unique stores, parks, museums, and library provide the back drop for many annual events and celebrations.

Martin Ranch, Chester
Located off Main Street (Highway 36 and Feather River Drive, the neighborhoods of Martin Ranch lie in a pristine meadow with Lassen as a backdrop, bordered on the west by the Feather River.
Lake Almanor West
The West Shore of Lake Almanor, off of Highway 89, hosts a golf course, driving range and tennis club. Spectacular views of the Peninsula and Lassen highlight this community.

Located on the extreme west shore of Lake Almanor, Prattville is home to many family cabins, public beaches and boat launch facilities, camping and RV sites and historic Camp Prattville.

Canyon Dam
Gateway to Seneca, Greenville and Indian Valley, Canyon Dam lies along the southern most end of Lake Almanor with campsites, RV parks, and public boat launch facilities.
Peninsula Village
Peninsula Village, along the shores of Lake Almanor on Peninsula Drive has a grocery store, coffee house, miniature golf course, recreational facilities, marinas, resorts and many fine restaurants.

Lake Almanor Country Club
Rich with amenities, the common areas of the Lake Almanor Country Club include a nine-hole golf course, seven tennis courts, three boat launches, two recreation areas a bandshell for performing arts programs and a clubhouse.
Located off of County Road A-13, several hundred acres make up the innovative gated community of Foxwood Known for the beauty of its seasonal landscapping, Foxwoods open areas, playground and Pavillion are favorites for family and neighborhood events.

Bailey Creek
Located off Clifford Drive, the homes of Bailey Creek are nestled among lush greens and beautiful pines and mountain views. Hosting an 18-Hole championship golf course, Bailey Creek's Club House is a favorite spot for dining and events.

Hamilton Branch
Located at the junction of A-13 and Highway 147, "the Branch" hosts lovely neighborhoods, a private school, fire services, a local coffee house and the Hamilton Branch Powerhouse at one of the areas favorite fishing spots.
The Lake Almanor Basin offers educational opportunities from pre-school to college to life-long learning, in the public as well as private sector.
The Lake Almanor Basin hosts a large and vibrant art community with representation in fine arts, music, textile, pottery, print and photographic arts.

Art is showcased in local art galleries, in rotating public displays, during Art Around the Lake in July and the Almanor Art show in August.


Music and entertainment are year round offerings. The summer months host live music and dancing at area resorts, Chester Concerts in the Park and the Lake Almanor Country Club Sunday Band Shell series. Year round events include the Chester Community Chorus Concerts and Words & Music Series.

Cultural Events

The Lake Almanor Basin hosts many wonderful year round events and celebrations such as the Memorial Weekend, 4th of July and Bidwell House Craft Fairs, Mile High 100 Bike Ride, 5 K Fun Run, 4th of July parade and fireworks, Wine Walks, Golf Tournaments, Street Rod Extravaganza, Merchant's Safe Trick or Treat, Merchants Night, a holiday open house and street party, and much much more....
The communities of the Almanor Basin are rich in community, cultural and civic opportunities for service and fraternity.
Chester-Lake Almanor medical and dental needs are serviced by our local hospital and the many professionals located in the Basin. Speciality services (massage, chiropractic, acupuncture & holistic healing) are also available.
