Directions

​Lake Almanor and Lassen Volcanic National Park lie in Northeastern California along the southern most end of the Volcanic Legacy Scenic Byway, where the Sierra Nevada meet the Cascades. At 4500 feet the Lake Almanor Basin lies at the headwaters of the Feather River. The town of Chester, on the northern shore of Lake Almanor is the commercial focal point of the area.


​Two metropolitan airports serve the Chester-Lake Almanor area, Sacramento and Reno. The drive from Sacramento to Chester and Lake Almanor via Hwy 32 is 150 miles, about 3 hours. There are 3 routes into Chester-Lake Almanor, Hwy 32 , Hwy 36 and Hwy 70. From Reno the drive is 125 miles and a little over 2 hours via Hwy 395.

Rogers Field is a public airport located two miles southwest of Chester. The airport's main runway is 5000 feet. AWOS, Avgas and jet fuel are available.
