2nd Annual Poker Paddle Water Run
Saturday July 28th
Paddlers mark your calendar for July 28th. Bring your kayak, canoe or SUP and plan for a wonderful day on the west shore of Lake Almanor with other paddlers. The poker run consists of 5 shore stops at 3 different locations to pick up numbers to make your poker hand. Prizes will be awarded to the two best hands of the day. This is not a race, but a way to have fun on Lake Almanor while taking in the majestic views of Lassen Peak and Dryer Mountain. If you are lucky you may have the opportunity to watch an eagle or osprey catch a fish out of the lake. Meet at Plumas Pines Resort at 7 am and before event starts at 8 am. Choose between a 5 or 8-mile route.
Bring your friends and make a day out of it. Or stay at a campground along the west shore and make a weekend out of it. There are several campsites along Lake Almanor and many lodging choices along the lake or in Chester. Lunch will be catered by Plumas Pines; the 5-mile loop paddlers will pick up lunches at the finish line next to Plumas Pines. The 8-mile loop paddlers will get their lunches at the turnaround at Rocky Point Campground, before heading back to the finish line. Kayaks and paddleboards can be rented from Lake Almanor Kayak Rental or Bodfish Quiet Mountain Sports.
Register online now or tickets may be purchased the morning of the event before the start. Registration fee is $50.00. Registration includes one 5 card poker hand, lunch and a hat. Extra poker hands may be purchased for 5 dollars. All paddlers must have a coast guard approved personal floatation device to take part in the poker paddle run.
Add this to your fun things to do list for July 28th. Help support our local Almanor Recreation and Park District, have some fun and maybe win a prize. For more information on this event or other events hosted by Almanor Recreation and Park Dkistrict please visit their website.
