Lake Almanor Area Chamber and Chester High School partner

The Lake Almanor Area Chamber has established a collaborative initiative with Chester High School aimed at equipping students in grades 9 through 12 with essential skills and resources necessary for a successful transition into the workforce. This session focused on interviewing skills assessment and resume building basics that prepares students for their first employment opportunities, ensuring they are well-informed and ready to meet the demands of the job market.

2025 Job Fair

The Lake Almanor Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce a collaborative initiative with Chester High School to host a job fair aimed at empowering our local youth and strengthening our community's workforce.

We invite local businesses to participate by reserving a table to share your staffing needs with students and community members. Even if you currently do not have open positions, we encourage you to consider engaging with students as a speed interviewer, providing them with valuable insights and skills necessary for success in the job market.

Chester High School's Vice Principal and Chelsea from the Chamber will curate a job wall featuring local industry opportunities, allowing students to select their top three preferences. The event will consist of two interactive sessions: one focused on resume building and the other on speed interviews, after which participants will switch roles. We also invite you to stay and connect with the youth, showcasing the employment opportunities your business has to offer.

Join us in celebrating the spirit of independence and community as we open nominations for the Chester 4th of July Grand Marshal! This prestigious honor is bestowed upon an individual who exemplifies the values of patriotism, leadership, and service to our town. The Grand Marshal will lead our annual 4th of July parade and serve as a symbol of pride for our community.

Nominations for the Parade Grand Marshal are accepted through May 12.

Chester Main Street Connectivity Project

welcomes update for

Chester Main Street Connectivity Project

Please join us on Monday, February 24 at 5:15pm at the Mt. Lassen Theatre or remotely on our new YouTube page to learn more about the Chester Main Street Community Connectivity Plan (CCP). We will hear from Jim Graham, Executive Director of Plumas County Transportation Commission on this project that is scheduled to begin in 2026.

The Chester Main Street Community Connectivity Plan will provide a roadmap to fund and implement transportation infrastructure improvements along the Main Street corridor through the community of Chester. This Plan was initiated by Plumas County Transportation Commission (PCTC) and is funded by Caltrans’ Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant Program, specifically the Sustainable Communities Grant (SCG).

The Plan has examined existing limitations to the highway’s function as a vibrant Main Street and make recommendations to reconfigure the roadway to better utilize the existing right-of-way for pedestrian and bicycle facilities, transit stops, and public spaces for community activity. The goal of this plan is to develop a corridor improvement concept to better fit the needs of the community while working with Caltrans to develop a fundable and implementable plan. Consistent with Caltrans’ planning guidance, this Plan uses Complete Streets design elements to provide safer and more comfortable mobility options for people of all ages and abilities.
