The Lake Almanor Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce Cheri McIntire as this year’s Grand Marshal — mainly because after decades of volunteering, organizing, cheering, hauling, helping, and showing up for just about everything, we finally figured out there was no way she could say no to riding in the parade.

Shortly after moving to the Chester area, Cheri jumped right into community life and never really slowed down. While raising her two very active daughters, she somehow managed to keep up with Girl Scouts, Little League team mom duties, ballet, basketball, track, volleyball, and summer youth programs at the park — proving long ago that sleep was apparently optional.

Cheri’s volunteer spirit extended throughout the community with involvement in the Almanor Recreation and Park District, PTA, Boosters, Chester Rotary Youth Leadership Camps, the “MAC” Major Appliance Cleanup Project, Memorial Weekend Craft Fair, 4th of July Duck Race, Mid Summer Madness, and the softball field project. If there was an event happening in town, chances are Cheri was helping organize it, working at it, cleaning up after it, or recruiting someone else to help too.

Her dedication, generosity, and ability to bring people together have made a lasting impact on generations of local families and on the entire Lake Almanor community.
